Lynn Peterson MA, LPC, CCTP
Lynn Peterson is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and is certified in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through EAGALA, the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association. She has practiced in the field of mental health for over 8 years. Lynn earned her Master’s Degree in Community Counseling from Roosevelt University. Prior to joining Behavioral Services and Counseling, she worked in a community-based counseling setting, an Intensive Outpatient Program for addictions, residential treatment and participated in faith-based volunteer work. In addition to conducting individual therapy, Lynn led groups including addictions, conflict resolution and
self-esteem. She gained extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults and couples dealing with but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, & adjustment disorders. Last summer she earned her Basic Certification in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through EAGALA. This is a unique modality she brings to Behavioral Services and Counseling that gets the client out of the office and into the horse arena.
Lynn uses a holistic, client-centered, and non-judgmental approach to therapy. She tailors her counseling sessions to best meet the unique needs and goals of each client. Lynn believes that her genuine and attentive approach is key to developing a true connection in therapy for identifying concerns, setting goals, and discovering solutions that promote self-understanding and improve quality of life. Lynn is dedicated to supporting and empowering clients to build on their already existing strengths and skills. Due to her past work, Lynn understands and values the need for safety and trust in
the therapeutic relationship. She believes that no single approach to therapy is right for every individual. As such, her relational, engaging, and collaborative style integrates faith and spirituality with a variety of therapeutic approaches. These include Cognitive Behavioral, Motivational Interviewing, Existential, and Strength-Based. Lynn is also well versed in 12-Step Recovery.
